How to get to Vila Galé Hotel
The eLex 2019 venue, Vila Galé Sintra, is located 35 KM away from Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport. To get to eLex2019 from the Airport, you can:
- get the subway from the Airport to the Oriente Station (Estação Oriente, two stops away, 6 minutes ride), from where trains to Sintra depart every 12 minutes (Linha de Sintra, a 47-minute trip with rather scenic stretches along the Lisbon coastline), an then get a short taxi ride to Vila Galé Sintra from the Sintra train station (10 min); expect to spend €10 for the entire trip, €4 for the travel card, metro and train rides, and 5 to 6€ for the taxi to the hotel;
- get a taxi to Vila Galé Sintra directly at the Airport (30 minutes to 1h, depending on traffic, for €45-50, or €25-30 for app-based driving services).
To use Lisbon’s public transport system you need to buy a travel card (Viva Viagem, €0.5) which you can load with credit and use across every different provider within Greater Lisbon (bus, train, subway, trams, lifts). This is a quick and simple process that can be done on any of the widely available automatic vending machines on any subway station, with instructions available in a number of languages. If you plan to use public transport, we recommend buying a Viva Viagem card (€0,5) right at the Airport subway station and loading it with approx. 8 to 10 € of credit, which should be enough to get you from the Airport to Sintra and back. An additional €10 to €20 in cash should be enough for short taxi rides between the Sintra train station and the venue, and back.
